The Challenge

This consultancy was highly-regarded in their industry and respected by clients for its no-nonsense, expert guidance, but it wasn’t known beyond its immediate network.

They needed to build the brand at the same time as they built the profile of their executive team as thought leaders in their fields. The business was growing rapidly and some of the biggest employers in the country rely on their advice, so they needed a reputation that matched the value of the work they deliver.

Being clear on who their audience was and how to set themselves apart was critical. They operate in a noisy industry, with many established competitors who are highly-visible, so making their limited budget work hard and get results was critical.

The Solution

We devised a multi-channel, bespoke strategy for the brand and each executive. We took into account their future growth plans, while running an in-depth competitor and influencer analysis to: 

  • Gain clarity on their points of difference 
  • Ensure our recommendations set them apart, so they got results faster and carved out a space to own

Each executive’s visibility strategy carved a space for them based on their area of expertise, but also included scope for supporting their colleagues’ own visibility plan. This ensured their visibility worked harder than if they simply worked on their own programs.

Our framework also encompassed a plan for the brand’s visibility with regular tactics, long-play for strategic ‘thought leadership’ style content, and messaging that provided clarity on what the business stood for.

They are also building their own body of powerful thought leadership content, with each executive being very clear on their domain while they work together to support each other’s results. The managing director is now running their own global research program as their pinnacle thought leadership play.

They are currently building valuable relationships with tier-one journalists (AFR) with the view to becoming industry commentators in national, mainstream business media.
